The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship Program. This scholarship supports students who are interested in a career in fraud examination. It provides up to $10,000 towards education expenses.
Security-Related Internship Links
The following internship opportunities are ideal for students seeking practical experience. These opportunities are very competitive, and often time sensitive, so be sure to note the deadlines and make sure to research early and submit your applications well before the time you would actually like to do the internship (at least one, if not two semesters in advance). That said, if you miss the deadline, make note of the date so you can be on time for the next year's posting. For some opportunities, interns can be selected on a rolling basis, so if a strict deadline is not provided, feel free to apply.
Center for a New American Security (CNAS) Internships
The Center for a New American Security (CNAS) is an independent, bipartisan, nonprofit organization that develops strong, pragmatic, and principled national security and defense policies. CNAS offers opportunities for students via their Joseph S. Nye Internship program. Candidates may apply for research, communications or development internships. Each internship is for six months.
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Cyber Security Internships
Cyber Security Undergraduate Interns protect CIA data and IT systems by identifying current threats, mitigating vulnerabilities, and anticipating future cybersecurity challenges. CIA internships are for full time students pursuing an undergraduate degree.
CIA Student Opportunities

Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Internships Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau
The FCC regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. An independent U.S. government agency overseen by Congress, the Commission is the federal agency responsible for implementing and enforcing America’s communications law and regulations. National Security Agency (NSA) Student Programs
The National Security Agency is a national-level intelligence agency of the United States Department of Defense, under the authority of the Director of National Intelligence.The National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) leads the U.S. Government in cryptology that encompasses both signals intelligence (SIGINT) and information assurance (now referred to as cybersecurity) products and services, and enables computer network operations (CNO) in order to gain a decision advantage for the Nation and our allies under all circumstances. The NSA offers many student programs, including internships, scholarships and a co-op program, which is detailed in the link above.
New Jersey Office of Homeland Security
The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) offers internships to a select group of applicants for college undergraduate juniors and seniors or graduate students during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. These are part-time, unpaid internships located in either their Hamilton or West Trenton office. All interns are assigned work assignments that are part of on-going projects at NJOHSP so that they experience having responsibility as well as contributing, just like employees. In addition to this, they have an opportunity to attend various meetings, participate in question and answer sessions with NJOHSP experts, and attend field trips to enhance their learning experience.
New York City District Attorney's (DA's) Offices
The District Attorney's office prosecutes crimes committed against the state, within a local government area. In NYC, there is a district attorney's office in each of the five boroughs. These offices offer many opportunities for students to serve as interns and they also offer many entry-level career opportunities for recent graduates. This is a great program for anyone who is interested in a career doing investigative work, who needs to gain experience. NYC Emergency Management Internships
NYC Emergency Management helps New Yorkers before, during, and after emergencies through preparedness, education, and response. The agency is responsible for coordinating citywide emergency planning and response for all types and scales of emergencies. Transportation Security Commission (TSA) Internship Program

Security-Related Organizations and Associations
Security organizations are great resources for training and networking within the security field. Some are more general security-related organizations and some are more specific to certain fields of security. Some, such as ASIS, also offer a career center with exclusive job listings.
